2. What makes Portugal a good location for T-shirt manufacturing?

Portugal has a bit of a unique position because the whole ecosystem is still here and close together. Within a short distance, you have knitting, dyeing, finishing, printing, trims… everything. That means you’re not just buying a T-shirt, you’re plugged into a full supply chain that actually talks to each other. For T-shirts specifically, the level of know-how is very high. It’s not just about sewing, it’s about how the fabric behaves after washing, how it ages, how it feels after 20 wears. That kind of understanding only comes from years of doing it.

Another important point is flexibility. Compared to larger overseas productions, Portugal allows smaller runs, quicker adjustments, and more control. For brands that care about quality and iteration, that makes a big difference. Also, communication is often underestimated, being in the same time zone (or close to it), being able to visit, speak directly, solve issues quickly, that has a real impact on the final product.

3. What excites you most about working with startup brands?

Startups are where things are still being figured out and that’s actually the interesting part. There’s no fixed way of doing things yet, so every decision matters: the first fabric, the first fit, the first production run.

We often see that the first product a brand launches ends up defining them more than they expect. Being involved in that stage, helping avoid mistakes, refining details, making sure the product actually delivers, that’s something we take seriously.

Also, startups tend to be very close to their product. They care about the small things, and that aligns well with how we work. It becomes more of a conversation than a transaction.

And to be honest, some of the most successful brands we work with today started small with us. Being part of that early phase and then seeing them grow, that’s probably the most rewarding part.
