How to start your headwear/cap production in Europe
1. Start with a clear product concept, not just a vague idea.
A successful headwear production in Europe does not start with the perfect factory. It starts with a clear and structured product concept.
Before contacting any cap or hat manufacturers, you need to define your requirements. If you want to produce a cap, think about how many panels it should have. Do you want a structured or unstructured fit. Should the brim be curved or flat. Which closure do you prefer like snapback, strapback, buckle or fitted. Which materials should be used like cotton, polyester, mesh or wool.
All these details should be defined before you contact factories. You then collect this information in your tech pack.
A headwear tech pack includes 2D technical drawings, a bill of materials, exact measurements, construction details, labeling instructions, embroidery or print details and packaging information. The more precise your tech pack is, the easier it is for manufacturers to understand your product.
Once your tech pack is ready, you can start contacting factories. If you need support creating one, you can also work with verified freelance designers on our platform who can assist you in creating a production ready tech pack.
2. Compare headwear manufacturers
Once your concept is ready you can start looking for the right manufacturer.
Not every cap factory is the same. Some focus on premium structured caps, others on sports caps, beanies or fashion headwear.
Compare manufacturers based on MOQs, production capabilities, lead times, certifications, product examples and location. Look at their previous work to understand their quality level.
On our platform you can explore a directory of verified headwear manufacturers in Europe. Each profile includes product details, images, reviews, lead times and contact information.
3. Request prices and compare offers
After shortlisting suitable manufacturers, you can start sending inquiries and comparing quotations.
On our platform, you can contact verified headwear manufacturers directly through their company profiles. Simply fill out a short inquiry form, describe your product in detail, specify your budget and order quantity, and upload your tech pack. Once your request is submitted, manufacturers will respond directly through the integrated messaging system.
Alternatively, you can post your headwear production request as an RFQ (Request for Quotation) on Suplify. After filling out a short form and uploading your tech pack, your production request becomes visible to our network. Interested factories can then reach out to you directly with offers, allowing you to compare multiple quotations efficiently and save time in the sourcing process.
4. Start Sampling
After speaking with different manufacturers and aligning on pricing, construction, and lead times, you can begin the sampling phase.
This step is critical, as it is the first time your design is translated into a physical product. Especially in complex headwear constructions, multiple sample rounds are common before achieving the final result.
Do not commit to bulk production until you are fully satisfied with the sample in terms of fit, materials, stitching, and overall quality.
5. Start bulk production
Once your sample is approved you can move into bulk production.
At this stage your headwear collection is produced at scale and ready for the market.
